Hints & Tips
  1. When choosing your photographer, don’t be afraid to ask to see a whole wedding that they’ve done, to make sure that the photo quality is consistent throughout the photos and wedding day. If possible, get references that you can contact regarding their work.

  2. Don’t skimp on your photography budget - in the end photos are one of the few things you have left of your wedding day. A family member or friend may be able to do it for cheaper, but if they do it wrong, there are no "re-shoots".

  3. Build up a relationship with your photographer, so that you will feel comfortable being photographed on your wedding day. This is important, because what you are feeling shows in the photograph.

  4. Take advantage of the engagement pre-shoot with your photographer before the time, so that you can practice their "poses" etc. This is also very important to the photographer, as they get to know you and your "preferences" before the day - making shooting on the day much easier for both you and the phoptographer).

  5. Let your photographer know in detail, what style of photos you like, and the type of shots you prefer, but don’t set your heart too specifically on certain photos, as most photographers will have their own style and "interpretation" of the day.

  6. Don't leave the photography arrangements to someone else - photography is a very personal choice.

  7. Some advice for the Bride-remember to choose a dress that suits your "body type". Often top heavy women, for example, may see a strapless dress that they love – but on the day, the design does not provide the support they need (and strapless bra’s tend to only work well for those that don’t really need them!). Although I do my best to make you look as beautiful on your photos as I can, there is a limit to what can be "fixed" and manipulated, and it is very important that you look back at your photos without having to "notice" the small things you wished you’d done differently.

  8. And lastly, some more advice for brides-make sure to use professional make-up artists and hairdressers that specialize in down or up-styles. Often brides try to save on their budget in these two departments, only to have the make-up look flaky or the hair falling out. Once again, there is a limit to what can be "fixed" with photoshop.... Book a trial session with both, and take photos so that they can remember exactly what you like or dislike, and you can also look at it again to make sure it is what you want on your wedding day. With make-up - you can still be natural, without being too minimal. Remember that the camera picks up everything, so make sure to have as much of a "flawless finish" as possible when applying your foundation… Also be very careful if wearing your hair down. Very few down styles still look "fresh" by the time you get to the formal photos and reception, especially when they have had to face the Cape's "Siouth Easter"
